On Dec. 8 I sent my ex a first draft of my version of a separation agreement. We've been split since mid-August - I waited because I knew he was really busy with work and didnt want to add pressure. Only then I found out he was seeing his ex-officially, so I figure, well hes moved on , work or not, so why wait. So today I emailed him again asking if he had a chance to go through it and if he wanted to meet to discuss it - its very fair, not asking for much, only half the cost of care for our son and I will buy him out of the house. His response was I went through it and it made me sick to my stomach. Why? Hes going away every second weekend to see her why would this bother him hes moved on, has what he wants. I was thinking he would be as anxious as I am to get things taken care of, especially given his relationship. Bizarre.
breakups aren't easy on either parties. The key is to take the emotions out of it, come to a conclusion that things have indeed come to an end, and make sure any proposal in truly fair and based on family law precedents i.e. you pulled jurisprudence to see how courts have divided belongings and dealt with finances in the past.
There is a tendency for entitlements to creep in for some people, and this usually derails and drags out what should be a simple process.
To buy him out of the house, am guessing you had the house evaluated with a least 2 realtors, got a quote and attached this to your offer? Do not concern yourself with what he is doing with whoever, it is none of your business now who he is with or what is doing with them.
Focus on your matter and what it is that you are trying to achieve.
