In the meantime, some things that were very helpful for me included support from friends and family, a great therapist, ending contact with my ex, finding new activities to enjoy, lots of aerobic exercise, journaling, meeting new friends, and focusing my energy on myself and making myself and my life the best they could be--and of course, the wonderful support of this group!
I think you'll eventually find the right space to but those feelings. She was your first, you cared for her, but not enough to commit. Nothing wrong with that.
Relationships have their beginnings and their ends. I am a firm believer that if a relationship doesn't last, it wasn't suppose to. You take the gifts, and the damage from it, and grow.
