so i have been with my boyfriend for tn eyears.n like always have lived together. neither of us go out or even leave each others side. wee have two young children together...but my feelings are not very strong for him. I'm still very young 24 and i would like to explore other options. i don't have why family friends or income or work experience. so if i did leave, i would have no where to go, no job, no way to support my children. it's been so long in the relationship i have no independence. I'm scared and i will always love him but i want more. what do I do. should i make it work for the kids and so i don't hurt him. or follow my heart and if i choose that option how do i support me and my babies.please help

You didn't mention abuse... So like, I would prepare myself for leaving. Get a job, start earning some income and start on your independence. If that's not possible, start going to night school get your Bachelors, and then start your job hunt. Once established in the work force, you'll have your own money and can re-assess whether you want to stay or not.

Hi Missmelissamarie,

Are you just looking for more freedom in your relationship? Or to rekindle the flame between you two? If you are truly unhappy, I would see if there are any programs in your area for single moms. There might be grants to go back to school, and money to help you while you study. I'd call the local government office where you are and set up an appointment to talk to someone.

It sucks that you are in this mess. I know it will get better for you.

I agree with MSgtD. Work on your independence, start with a job, go to school. It may be that after you are out in the world working and in school, you may not want to leave and find that you were bored at home.

Being in a marriage and never going out and never leaving each other's side--I have to ask how much fun are either of you?

Missmelissamarie - To echo MSgtD. You could start back at school. Several schools now offer online courses to where you can do the majority, if not all, of the school in front of your computer. My niece just received her RN associates degree in under 3 years. Look into financial support (student loans, etc). She now is making a decent paycheck and single parenting one child. It can be done.
Staying together solely for the kids is not beneficial. I speak from experience.
