but sex can also be the antithesis of intimacy too
I don't know if it's the right or wrong, majority or moniority opinion. It's just my opinion.
I think I'm focusing more on affectionate or loving, as opposed to close and familiar.
Will sex alone sustain a healthy long-term relationship without trust, respect, honesty and communication?
Now maybe I'm odd, but I also find other physical manifestations of intimacy exceedingly rewarding. Long embraces, cuddling/snuggling, caressing, very passionate, slow and tender kissing (I love that one!!!).
For me it was a merging of essence and being. We were tuly one, the lines where one began and the other ended seemed to fade away.
Decide what intimacy, sexual and non-sexual, is for you. Live that.
When two become one.
When unspoken words are pairing over both bodies and minds and the simple touch of skin can erupt an explosion of fireworks.
Everything around two people who have strong, passionate feelings for each other would then be intimate. the message, for me, is in the soul calling process.
It doesn't simply go away until one party shuts that door.
but confluence outside of the bedroom is not healthy
that's when you have to return completely to yourself and allow space between you
Just my 2 cents:
Just because a couple can have really phenomenal sex, it can be very lonely, one-sided, and the total opposite of anything intimate.
