My 1st divorce devistated me for years though I stayed decently positive. At the time I somewhat resented that my mother, who was lost for words could only say "maybe there's something you can learn from this." You know what? 25 years later/2nd marriage I'd suddenly learned my wife was having an affair and had already made all new big plans without me-she was the perfect mate in my mind and we'd had such a good run. Little did I know she's very impulsive and it's come out she'd done this many times before....this marriage was the one that should have crippled me but didn't. I used what I'd learned from the other, the healing process and the fact that you can move on and life can be better than you ever imagined without the ex. Funny it took 25 years for the pain of the 1st divorce to actually help me through the new one but it did.
