I hate to be a downer but before you get carried away with your new found wealth. The tax return is half hers as is the bonus unless you have it outlined in an agreement. Make sure you plan accordingly. Maybe you could take half of us to dinner.

Not necessarily, if the "financial gains" occur after the date of legal separation, any ex involved ought not have any legal claim.

This is coming from a woman who's ex got a big bag full of money AFTER he left, a brand spankin' new car, as well as now owns two houses.

I would argue the tax return was money earned last year. They might try the same thing with the bonus, I should have worded my response 'may be half hers'. Either way be careful is all I'm suggesting.

Sorry about your situation a little. My net worth has taken a beating through this as well.
