Yup. Wrote a thread earlier this morning before I left. Stomach in knots, was the title of it.

So, what happened? Well, my lawyer told me she was going to ask for a continuance because he hasnt done any of the things he is supposed to, like give financials, fill out discovery and sign child support agreement. She (my atty) and I sat before the "Master" and asked for the continuance for those reasons, and also because...

THE IDIOT DIDNT SHOW! NEITHER DID HIS LAWYER!

My atty got on the phone with his atty, and apparently, he never wrote the date down and is mortified that neither one of them were there!!

About a month and a half ago, we went to child support court and discussed this date and another date and all agreed these dates were ok and we were all available! WHAT MORONS!

Now, my atty is going to file a Motion of Compliance (?) if anyone knows what that means! She probably told me, but I was in such disbelief, I already forgot!

Who knows if this is a good thing or a bad thing? Whats your opinions on this? Im sure its a good thing for me, I was there!!

It means that he has to provide the written statements that the judge is asking for, if he does not, then he can't use anything contained within those documents against you. e.g. If he is claiming that you owe half of the family debt, which he claims to be $x,000, then presumably he has the documentation to prove it. That is what the judge is asking to see. He has not complied, so he has lost his chance to prove that point. (At least in my case, honey). This also looks REAL bad on his part. Soon, as in my case, the judge is going to lose patience at these antics and just put it to trial, again at least in my case. SOOOOOOOOO proud of you today - enjoy the rest of the day, if you can.

I dont understand this. In Maine, if the other party doesnt show up, you get everything by default.....my final date is 8/1 and i am praying that he doesnt show up!!!!

efletch, mine was what they called a Settlement Conference. So, I guess different states have different laws?
I hope yours doesnt show up, either!

What Idiots.Sounds like my case.All stall tactics...for what???they only hurt themselves in the long run. Mine decided to change lawyers a few days before what was to be our pretrial.Mine also won't turn in papers....uuuugggghhhh.It's frustrating I know,but what else can we do but wait it out.Mine even had enough odasity to lie to the lawyers AND the judge....got slapped for it and blames I and my lawyer. Yup we got ourselves some real gems(gag). You did great and am proud of you.Enjoy the rest of the day *grumbling...damn idiots*

Wow, he's going to end up really pissing off the judge-hee hee!

Sorry he messed up your day, but look at the bright side, this will probably work out better for you in the long run.

I don't understand it. That is so irresponsible. I would think the judge would have a fit. What kind of lawyer does he have that doesn't show? If it is a stalling tactic, it might backfire on him. Hope it does!

In my honest opinion, I really do think they actually forgot. I dont think its a stall tactic, I could be wrong, but that would be dumb of them. It would hurt him more and benefit me more if that were the case.
Oh well. Not my problem, really. I did and am doing what Im told to do!
