I've written a post about my situation with my (now ex) fiancé on here already - he broke up with me back on 28 December because I had been drinking quite heavily for the past few years and through all the drinking and the hurt he's felt, he came to a realisation that he's no longer in love with me or attracted to me anymore.
We've been together 5 years, living together for 4.5. We're both 26. He moved into his friends place across the street for two weeks, and I spent that time working to turning my life around. I haven't had a drink in 36 days and I have absolutely no intention of going back to the way I was before.
After two weeks, he decided to move back in as he liked the changes he'd seen and wanted to see if we could make it work. He couldn't. He was so distant, he was so cold towards me. We spoke about it several times, and he cried saying that he doesn't know why he doesn't feel about me the way he wants to, he wants more than anything for everything to go back to the way it was, but it just isn't happening for him. 
He seems to have a lot going on inside his head. He's made some big changes in his life too, he's considering changing jobs and he has decided he wants to travel overseas, he has taken up new hobbies that he's never been interested in before. He has said he feels like he's losing his mind, he just doesn't know what he wants.
For three weeks we lived like this until this weekend, we took a weekend away together camping, and I finally felt strong enough to tell him that I'm going to move out. He can have our apartment and everything in it, he can get himself a roommate to help with the rent and I'm making a fresh start.
We talked for an hour and a half, both crying and saying how did we get here? What happened? Why are two people that have so much love and history sitting and having a conversation about splitting up? We were going to be married. We were going to be together for the rest of our lives.
If he cannot decide whether he loves me enough to want to spend the rest of our lives together, then we need to not be together. We both need to experience life without the other person in it for him to decide whether he wants this or not. It was without a doubt the hardest conversation I've ever had. I love him so much and I want to be with him, but not like this. 
I suggested that maybe we catch up in a few months when the wounds are healed and this isn't so raw, grab dinner and see how things go. I said that maybe being truly apart will make him appreciate what we had and next time if we try again, we will both be in a better place to make sure we don't lose each other again. Or maybe we will agree that being apart is for the best. I truly don't know.

I'm very hurt, and so is he. He cried all night, apologising and saying that he really hopes that this isn't the end of our story. I hope so too.
