My husband filed last October, served me finally in December. I've been trying to keep the peace and be cordial. We still live in the same house and have been intimate. Friends and family don't understand this, it's out of left field, everyone was shocked. I don't know if it is a midlife crisis or not. I've given him plenty of space and time. He's stressed and it's effecting his diabetes. But if he wants this so bad why so stressed? I've heard and seen him get uptight with his son on the phone, I know it's not all us or me. I'm not as stressed. I have good and bad days of course. I'm not afraid to be me in the house. I've made him smile and laugh. I refuse to give him reason to complain about me. I was and am good to him. I'm struggling with the fact he says he hasn't loved me for 16 years. Are they just words to hurt? Who lies like that and for that long? His actions were so different and I've been told I made him happier than his first wife. Is he trying to hurt me? I don't get it. I'm not trying to hold on that much anymore. I just don't know what to believe when everyone around me says he loved me. Are they lying to me or is he and why?

Hi there. Looking at your situation from the outside in, your husband also has good and bad days when thinking about your marriage. His decisions to file, serve you with divorce papers, & tell you he hasn't loved you for the past 16 years could have been made on particularly bad days when he very well may have wanted to hurt you. However, the facts that you two are still living in the same house after all this, still share intimacy & have a friendship wherein you can make each other smile & laugh are good indications there still is a lot of love & hope in your marriage as well. Keep talking to each other & believe the truth of your day-to-day relationship; not the lies of anger & stress. You may want to also consider some marriage counseling &/or individual therapy so whatever triggers caused the stress in your marriage can be worked on & resolved. Good luck!!!!

Idk sounds to me that he served you to try and control you.

He's using you for sex until he finds someone else.

Like, "if you behave and do as I want, maybe there's a chance"...

Why are you still intimate with someone who served you with divorce papers and says he doesn't love you?

Once the words were uttered, i want a divorce that
Was it for any relationship what so ever. He moved
Out within 48 hours i was served a week later. HUGS

Thx all. He doesn't come after me for intimacy unless I let him and I do only because he's still my husband and neither of us is with anyone else. Plus, I know he'll miss it. We both agree that was never an issue for us. I do think he says things out of anger and to make me mad. He expected me to kick him out but I never did. He's not him and from what I've read it's all the signs of a midlife crisis. I know it's his loss, I'm accepting this but deep down I still don't want it. Being intimate is not being used as a tool to get him back either. We are still married and it's better than nothing when you enjoy it together and we both want it.

As long as you don't feel used, abandoned and shocked when the divorce goes through and/or he finds someone else.
