I became a member in Nov 2010 and legally divorced in Apr 2012. Took some time for myself, went out here and there but I didn't want to be in a relationship until I felt emotionally ready. Last summer I was at the top of the world emotionally. I was happy with myself and ready to meet somebody. Finally last November 2014 I met a man and I let my guard down. After dating for 7 months he told he is emotionally unavailable. It took me a long time to heal after getting divorce and again. I broke my own promise - I didn't want to fall in love cause I didn't want to hurt again. But fall in love I did - he was wonderful the first few months, he did and said the right things. Now I'm just hurting again and so disappointed in relationships and love all over again.

Don't be hard on yourself. This is a wonderful lesson. I bet after your husband you never thought you could love again. Well you did and that's a great experience. We can't live our lives being afraid of up hurt and pain with every experience and with all the pain and disappointment there is a lesson to learn. You gave yourself time to heal and feel whole before you let someone in. Be thankful for that and also that he didn't string you along. He told you where he stood. Sometimes we want the first person after our exes to be the one! But we might have to kiss a few frogs before we meet our prince :)

I'm just happy you know you are capable to love again.

Hang in there. My situation is similar to yours. I think it is a great thing to be able to love again if you can.

this is a great site to come to for healing so continue to come and post until you feel better.

So sorry and I can relate. I took time for me to bounce back and I have been dating for about a year and I have had disappointing moments - I think we realize that dating is healthy to an extend but what we tend to forget is what comes with it. But is not good to shut down either - we want to be cautious to a degree but not build barriers because we do not know when true love will come again and we don't want to block it.

But - I do date with a safe distance and I wait for people to show me who they are first before I open up - I don't give too much - I meter myself - and yes, this is possible. I know we can't control what others tell us though, so it sounds like he told you one thing and later the story changed? - I would say to that - actions speak louder than word - let people show you next time - but then again, dating is a risk/chance we take. Don't feel discouraged. All we are doing out there is trying.
