Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
There are some additional things that need to happen. First, stop all contact with him.
Next, allow yourself to go thru the grieving process. It will hurt, but that only way past the pain is to go thru it. It would help to attend a grief group or see a grief counselor. Don't try to be strong. That will only drag things out.
Take as much time to heal as you need. It's not a linear process and it won't help to start dating right away. Honor and feel your feelings w/o judgment. Write him a 'good bye' letter telling him everything you will and won't miss about him. Do NOT give/send it to him. Instead burn it and create a funeral like ceremony around it. Write as many of these letters as you need to.
Finally, practice extreme self care and know that you deserve better than this lying cheating scum.
~healing hugs~
But at the end of the day, remember you love the image of him, not who he is now. The one that you really love, loves you back and respects you. He would not betray you and not hurt you like that. You deserve better!
Writing the list is a good idea.
I guess the one good thing about this is that you didn't get too far down the road with this guy to find this out later. After many more aspects of your life were incorporated in to his.
I guess you can write a list as well about the things you feel lucky about that you found out now and not later.
A list on things you need in a relationship and from a partner.
