Hi all...just wondering how many of you chose to move away after your divorce? I have been divorced since July and still going through all of the pain associated with not only the divorce but other things that have happened in my life this year. Most of our friends were ours as a married couple and went away when he left. Such is life. I lost my father right at the time my husband left and am now taking care of my mentally handicapped sister since my father died. He left us a very decent inheritance so I am not concerned financially. My mom lives about 15 miles away and is retiring in December so she will be able to help more. I just feel that more than ever this is a good time to cut my losses, move to a new place and start over. Nothing is keeping me here and it is time for a career change as well to something less stressful and requires less hours.

You sound like me, i did move 13 miles away
Where the hub is in our area. It was too hard
To stay where we lived for 30 years. Its filled
With his family and relatives. I go back on
Occassion it hurts yet i do it sometimes.

I still work one of my jobs, but i need a change
Too. I need a fun job. I am thinking of going to
Florida seasonally and still keep working. I am
Just Renting here.

I have a mother 83 in another state, thats not
Where i want to go. She is difficult but i know
Later on duty might call. I keep hoping and praying
She gets into senior housing life would be easier
Then to deal with her. HUGS

I care take for a living and i can not keep it up
My emotional self needs a recharge and love.

That is the dream!! I would move in a heart beat were it not for my mom (81). We lost my dad back in April, so she is still emotionally stabilizing. Looks like we will not make anything on the sale of our house, so no nest egg so to speak. We live on the coast, so I really would like to move out to the island, just to isolate myself a little from all the daily contact of people. I will be able too once we get things settled a little more, the cost is a bit more but would be worth it to me to get to spend time on the beach everyday. Keep pushing forward!

It is always good to move away. I did that too. Do you want every area in that place remind you of your past? No, right? It is best to start afresh a new unbiased life. Treat this as the right moment to do what you always dreamt to do, explore your passion. Live your life and enjoy every moment of it!

I still talk big and think big but have not had the
Inner readiness to do anything yet. Hope to go to
florida in December to look around and scope
things out.

I had enough changes with the Divorce and moving,
I did not want to change my Jobs too even though
They were stress filled and worked too many hours.

Now i am working Only one job the one with the health
care benefits and way less hours than i was with two jobs.
All of that stress did not help my MH any. I still have major
Distress issues to contend with. Trying supplements to
Help me. HUGS

I am curious on moving away too. Looking at it as an adventure. Anyone who has done it? Pros and cons?

I moved away after my divorce. There are many pros than cons...if you are looking at it as an adventure, you are already prepared for it unless you don't want to miss out on your old friends. Move out a new house, make new friends...when your mind experiences exciting adventure, it will easily get distracted and you will recover faster. But keep focusing on the positive and don't look back. I had a coachee who had a really bad experience, divorced his wife. Finally, he decided to move out and settle in Singapore. After 3 years, he got married to a beautiful woman in Singapore and is living quite happily. You never know when love strikes you again.

I used to work in retail for a company that was always looking for new managers in other states so I took advantage of it after my first super-hard breakup. Heck, even did it again years later after a number of breakups with GFs over a few years that had me down and disillusioned-ha. In a way it was an adventure. I was forced to be at peace with myself and be all on my own. It did so much for me. Now in my 40s with an awesome job, aging mother, ill siblings, etc... I don't have the same luxury so I'm toughing it out staying here...luckily my ex has sort of gone rogue and left town on her own-though it won't last since all her family is here, it temporarily helps. Anyway, if you're up for such a huge change I'd say go for it!
