Did you ever give him an inkling there was hope, or not, and how long before he finally left you alone, and what did you have to do to let him know you were done? How many times did you have to tell him it was over?

I've told him and I don't think he heard me, why do I have to tell him again, I find it frustrating, because I want to avoid any contact and I don't want to let him have it, I want to act in kindness - it just didn't work out and I found out he is a liar and I already told him, and he is persisting in contacting me.

He is tying to fix whatever went wrong, so he will not hear you, while doing that. As Jaken said if you want him out complitely.

We had no period pf reconcilation. When it was over the crazy lady left.

You don't let it go on if you really want him to be out of your life. You change the number, put a block or send his email address to the trash etc.

I had to abandon my personal email and home phone as she was persistent. I check that email address, which was for business, one every couple of months and my home phone has been out of the wall since last April or May.

If they don't get it, no need to be mean, just cut off the available avenues to get to you.

ONCE. When I was a few days or weeks into living alone we talked on the phone. By then I really Didn't want to go back, but I went through the (e)motions.

My ex never asked to come back; many of my family and friends say he would have come back if I would have asked him, but I disagree. The nasty way he's treated me through all of this is not indicative of a man who wants to reconcile. And I wouldn't have taken him back even if he'd asked; I made that very clear to him.

mine walked out and didnt look back so i guess my answer is it took me about 3 months to realize he wasnt coming back.

and no he didnt have to repeatedly tell me because i didnt ask..my heart had to listen to my head

It's been three years for me..and for some reason my ex still believes he can have me back. He is so warped!!!!!

I saw my X at a funeral in November. He certainly looked and behaved like he would give anything to get me back, but it is not possible. I don't respect him any longer.

I have not responded to his attempts to reestablish contact - just because he's ready doesn't mean I am.

My game plan is to stick to "I" statements to remain in kindness. "I" need space. Anyway, instead of pointing the finger at him with blame and saying because "you" did this or that ...

I found out he may be at the club where we met tonight, and just walked away - not wanting to get into a triangle with anyone else.

Yeah after reading one of the responses I realize from past relationships sometimes years pass and the person still has interest in rekindling.
