Hi all, I am new to this site.  I have been spending the last week or so reading many posts, and see that there is a great community of people here.  I thought that maybe I could get a new perspective on things by reading what others are going through.  I have been with an alcoholic for over 10 years.  We have 5 children between us, 2 are his, two are mine, and one is ours.  We have had many, many ups and many, many, many, many downs through out the years.  Over the last two years or so, we have had numerous things occur, from deaths of family and friends, to issues with his children and his ex. Lots of life changing things.  He has had a really hard time dealing with it all.  Our relationship was already on rocky ground to begin with because of the drinkning, but after all the other things, it brought him over the top. 12-24 beers a night!  Just crazy!  I have always done everything that I could for him, our children, and our business, but nothing is good enough, or makes anything better.  I am already seeing a therapist for codependancy.  I moved out of our home after Christmas with my three children.  We still communciate everyday and I still go to the house almost everyday, he picks our son up from school, so I go there to get him.  I thought that maybe a little bit of a distance from me would help him see that he needed to get help for the drinking.  He refuses to do so.  The crazy thing is, is that he knows he has a problem.  He knows how he has treated us.  He knows that through the years he has got worse.  He knows why things are the way they are. He knows that his way of thinking has gone to a bad negative place.   He refuses to deal with any kind of problems.  He just pushes them under the rug and pretends they don't exist, and hopes that eventually they will just disappear.  Well, they don't and won't unless you deal with them.  Any problem we ever have, from our business, to us, to our kids, whatever.  All he wants to do is complain but never wants to fix.  How do you deal with this?  He knows what he is doing, sober, or beer googgles he will tell you the same thing.  Except when the googgles are on he is angrier about it.  I am at a loss...I love him very much, but I can't make him get the help he needs.
