My husband & I have not been married long, but we used getting married to hide the problems we have had from the start. No intimacy, no emotional support -- he just couldn't give me those things. He says he can't trust me anymore (after I sought affection from others) - but I was so desperate to feel worthy. We are very close still and I will always consider him my best friend (and him, me), but we will never be a romance ... he isn't capable of it and I can't spend my life begging.

My therapist acknowledges my guilt but encourages me to move past it, since I should not let it define me ... but I do.

I feel like I am destined to be alone. I am a teacher and I am failing my kids; my coworkers are amazing, but I feel like I am pushing them away. He got the keys to his new place and will be moving this week.

I feel like someone is sitting on my chest. How do I make it through?

Hi MeaganKate. I too am going through a rough time and feel once my wife leaves, I will be all alone and lonely. Although she and I never had kids together, we have 4 that I feel we have failed (been married 10 years). Once she goes, she's taking her kids with her.

I started a thread talking about my fears of loneliness when that tme comes. I am encouraged by the responses I've gotten, but the fear of being destined to be alone is still overwhelming. Hang in there, we will get through it.....

Is there anyway to fix it? I understand that there are problems that have been there from the start but can it be fixed? Can the marriage be saved or is it a dead end? And do you both want to save it?

@ninetyone He has refused counseling. I can't do all the work, like I have been the last year.

Why do you feel like you're destined to be alone? Your situation is temporary and will eventually pass. The way you feel will subside over time, even though it doesn't feel this way now.

This may sound trite, but, I assure you that I mean this will all my heart -- this is what I do every single day as I deal with my own situation -- one moment at a time. An entire day is far too much, too long and too overwhelming for me, so, I take it one single moment at a time.
