( Matthew 19:3-9
3Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”
4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’#4 Gen. 1:27
5and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’#5 Gen. 2:24?
6So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
7“Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”
8Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.
9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”) .
It is very hard when one person wants to make it work and not seeing that on the other side. Especially in today's society where you get divorced because you fall out of love or because the marriage got to hard. I have been going through this journey watching her walk away since the first weeks of June. She even had me sign divorce paperwork this month. All of which is so far from what I want in our marriage. All this happened after a fight and not talking for 4 days and then she comes back announces she wants a divorce and she wants to move on and she found someone new. Which has left me displaced, and alone, I moved out and in with some friends and was hoping space would allow us to work. I have been trying to take care of myself and go to church (which we in our marriage had not made a priority.) and seek solo counseling (which I never felt comfortable with, but was will to go to after telling her know for years due to some bad experiences as a child, we never made it to a session before she tossed in her towel and walked away.) So I see a lot of similarities though I don't think anyone's experience is ever going to be 100% the same as we are all individuals with different experiences and personalities. Which cause some to struggle with different areas and things. I'm here if you ever need someone to talk to if you want.
On the other hand, it sounds like you do not want a divorce. Do you want him back? Do you think he is what you deserve? This is not the first time he's seen another woman. Can you live with a serial cheater? I have to tell you they do not reform. They will "work" on themselves until they can find another excuse to cheat.
Be honest with yourself. Make a list of his pros and cons. Put everything down no matter how minor. Take time to do this because you will forget and remember things later. No one is perfect but you deserve things too. Just a few...a faithful husband, a loyal man, a partner who will support you (as well as you him), and someone who you can trust. He's making this about him and focusing on himself. Take this time to focus on you. You are worthy of so much.
Hugs.
There are so many people here with great advice. It sounds like you are already moving forward by changing the bills to your name and not paying his stuff. Just one day at a time. Don't wait around for him. Focus on yourself! Good luck and we are all here if you need anyone to talk to!
"I am a good wife, a good provider, devoted, loving, caring, affectionate and generous." And he was none of these things?
He has lied to you and, he has cheated on you, cheating, reparable damage, lying, irreparable damage.
In closing I would like to meet someone who is potentially a good wife, a good provider, devoted, loving, caring, affectionate and generous, do you know if such a BEAUTIFUL beast exists?
You are in pain and, for a GOOD reason, you ARE a caring and, loving/lovable person, YES darling you ARE the real deal. You will survive this and, be all the richer for, mark my words.
