I don't know, Jaclyn. I know I remember a lot from my marriage, because it was a significant relationship, but other, minor relationships? I just shut myself off to it and move on. I don't know "how" I do it, but I just learned it somewhere along the line.

I want to know this as well. Today is my ex's bday. First time he will "celebrate" it without me. So why have I been in a depressed mood all day?!?! Why should I even care...he doesn't deserve it.

Maybe it will just happen, and we won't even realize it.

I just saw my car that he took from me for sale. How can he and his family advertise and sell this car knowing my kids and I have been walking for months now? How can they make money off of me and hurt me so much? Do they not have any conscience? I'm a human being with feelings I can't afford what they did to me on any level. I don't understand any of it, how anyone can mistreat other people and act like they suddenly don't exist.

Have not had contact (which I chose to do and told him) in a month. I had told him to only contact me if it was important: about the dogs or finances.

Today I saw he'd tried to get in touch so I contacted him. He wanted to tell me about some tax things he'd gotten. That's why he contacted me....but.....it's my birthday. The ONE person......but...it didnt even register with him...It's not like we've been apart for decades. How quickly they are able to just erase us from all the corners of their minds and hearts.

The month/day of our wedding/anniversary was one he specifically picked out when we decided to get married. When the judge signed our final papers I received my copy the day before what would have been our 16th anniversary. I said something about the timing...not mentioning what I meant by that cause I figured he would get it. He didn't. He kept calling with guesses. Took him several hours to realize. In just one year...that date stopped registering with him at all. As if it had never happened.

Other than him acting like we are pals when we do have to have contact, it's like our relationship never happened.

I have not heard from him on my birthday since we split up.. But this hurts so much more because I DID hear from him but he didnt have a clue.. I dont call him on his birthday either, but it isnt because it doesnt register with me.
sigh...so sick of all of this...feeling too much...feeling numb...up...down...

I find myself wondering this too, how people can just forget and move on as though nothing happened, as though we never were..... I want to know how they do it so I can try to do it lol. I wonder if it ever comes back to haunt them the fact that they can move on so quickly, I've never understood the people that can go from relationship to relationship, I've had plenty of female friends who are like this and I think deep down there s some underlying reason they can drop one person and go to another never being single or alone for more than a day...its gotta catch up to you at some point I would think???? I dont know it doesnt make sense to me either.

Those that feel, like you do, yes have to endure sadness, but also get to feel true joy. Your ex- probably isn't able to feel much of anything. While hard for you, this is what makes you a loving, caring person and you are the lucky one. There are people who are self absorbed, lack feelings and my guess is don't make for good partners. I know I have one and have to get out of this relationship. It's called "personality disorders". You can't change them but be glad you're away from them. Because you experience this deep sorrow you also have the ability to experience joy, people like your ex likely don't have that capacity. On the other hand some people a great at pretending they don't care when they really do. Remind yourself that you have a huge capacity to love and care, and that's a gift.

My ex hurt me so much it was easy to forget about those things concerning him. I know he has a bday. I know what day it is but its never going to be something I celebrate with him again because he destroyed it. We have an old anniversary date but its again not something to celebrate anymore. The only way to forget about the past is to live in the present.

He is the only one i want to be able to erase from my heart and head. I dont want to treat others that way. i just want him out of my head and out of my heart.
