We are in the same house until May(roommate situation) and avoid each other at all costs.
Maybe I will just go out with some friends and come in late as to avoid having any contact with him. He doesn't deserve any acknowledgement from me.
I'm counting the days....
Since he wants to "be by himself" now, let him wish "himself" a happy birthday.
Loved your reply Johnzilla! :) and yours too WinterKate. Yep, wishing the bastard well coz I don't want him to be well!!
Your remark just brought back a memory from Xmas 2012. We had a big argument because his feelings were hurt...I had forgotten to get him a card. I had spent the few days before shopping, cooking, wrapping, and packing for both him and my son. I had stayed up after midnight wrapping gifts and stuffing stockings (yes, his stocking too) so that everything would be perfect. On top of all of this, I had been sick. By the time I thought about the card, it was too late. The next morning, the only thing he could do was point out that I didn't get him a freakin card. He was so unappreciative of anything I had done. He made me feel like a complete failure. All of this just ruined Xmas.
I wasn't perfect by any means during our marriage, but regardless of what I did right, he would point out my shortcomings. I finally just gave up trying. I always felt that he was disappointed in me.
I am so better off without him. He had so many issues that I turned a blind eye to. He was not good for me nor my son. I just did not want a divorce. In my head, I felt like divorce was another sign of my failure.
Oh yeah, and we didn't do Xmas for each other because he wanted "to save money"...even though he spent it like a fiend.
Anyhow, since having a child, and to this day, we DO get each other something from our son, but I don't ever consider it as a gift from my ex.
And we do get each other mother/fathers day gifts.
As far as personal attachment to any of those dates? Nope, it isn't there.
