My wife of 13 years and her two kids moved out on Friday, She told me on Thursday that she was leaving. From my perspective there was no indication that she was unhappy with me or our marriage. She has been quiet and withdrawn for a few months - I asked her many times what was wrong and was told that everything was fine. I even asked her a few times (perhaps too many) if we were ok - I was always told that we were "fine". My step daughter (yesterday) told me that my wife's reasoning did not make sense to her and that she was surprised. I love my wife, I do not want to loose her or the two kids. I begged her to go to marriage counseling – she declined and told me that perhaps she would go after she moved out.
I am devastated - I don't know what to do, emotions are tearing me up; it's hard to eat or control what's going through my mind. On friday I actually called around trying to find a counselor that could see me to help deal with this - apparently there is a shortage - because I could not find one that could see me - hopefully one of the practices that I left a message with will call me back.
To make matters worse for me, I’m living in a new state with few friends (I am retired).
I have my son staying with me until he returns to school in the fall – that helps, he’s been hanging around me trying to help.
So as I proofread this I realize just how pathetic all of this is.. I have no clue why I am posting this, I can’t imagine how this group can help – but at this point I’m open to anything.
Thanks for reading this.
