I was with him one year. He was planning to propose on Christmas (just 4 weeks ago). I could never trust him. And initially, I didn’t really get why. So I looked. The first lie he told was about when he gets off work. He would tell me one thing but tell others he was “free to talk” an hour earlier. One time i noticed that he didn’t come into the house until he finished up a phone call. I noticed when I would meet him at lunch that he was always getting off the phone. I was suspicious. I asked if he was speaking to a female friend regularly and he said no. Eventually, he began to tell me that he was too busy to talk to me at work and too busy to give a specific time to have lunch with me. But I continued to see that he was telling others specific times that he would be free to talk or for lunch. He later confessed that, because he knew I looked, he would delete things off his phone before coming home. Things like call logs, and messages he feared I would misinterpret. All the while he swore he wasn’t cheating on me. I came to know many of the women he was talking to by name. He said they were all friends. With each one, I asked if there was history. He told me they were platonic. Ten months into the relationship, he confessed that he had had sex with each of the female friends I could list by name sometime BEFORE he and I were together. One in particular was someone he would call any time I was away and speak for hours while he was at work. They only spoke while he was at work and never in front of me. I felt betrayed. I asked him why he said they were platonic, he said bc at the time that I asked, that was the status of their relationship. I asked if he left out that he slept with them on purpose. He said he felt there was no need to mention it bc he had decided on his own that they were no threat to our relationship. He felt that he had done all that was necessary to safe guard our relationship and refused to invite me to the conversation. He also told me that these women didn’t want him. I found out that just one year ago, one had expressed that she wanted to be with him. Another, now married, sent him jokes about polygamy. A man joked about him having many wives. I felt my ex omitted information. And that meant he lied. He felt it wasn’t a lie if something was omitted. This scared me and further made it hard for me to build trust with him. He blamed me from the beginning for not trusting him. Suggesting I was only insecure for no reason. I’m here now trying to prove myself wise for walking away from him. And that my concerns were not irrational. He left saying that he hadn’t done anything wrong. That I ruined us. I have a different perspective. This is my experience. I’m just looking for feedback and support.
