HUGS
I am very sorry to hear that this happened to you. It is always difficult to go through a breakup especially around a silly holiday such as valentine’s day. I have had similar issues in the past and I did not understand why for the longest time. Eventually, I was able to take a step back and try to understand every relationship that I was in and what led to its end. This kind of self-reflection is useful because it gives you a summary as to what went wrong and what you can do to prevent this in the future. I am not saying that the breakup is your fault, but it sounds like there may be a theme that you are missing. One thing might be the kind of guy that you are attracted to. you could try to date outside of your normal comfort zone which may surprise you of the results.
To deal with the pain now, do not hold it in and compartmentalize it. Be in the moment, feel these feelings instead of running from them. I know it sounds counterproductive, but this will help you to gain some introspection and understand what the pain is that you are feeling. If you hold it all in and just deal with it, then they might come out in future relationships as insecurity and a fear of losing another person especially when they are showing signs of distancing themselves. Focus on yourself and your personal goals. once you do this, you will feel a sense of respect and confidence about yourself. one of the main reasons why you are feeling this pain is because that particular individual gave you a feeling that you have been missing in your life. It’s like a drug and when you do not have it, you begin to withdraw and seek to find that feeling again. Imagine this, if you can find that feeling on your own, within yourself, then any relationship you get into you be more confident in and your partner will see that as well. Remember to be your own best friend through this tough time. You are all that matters and your feelings are real. Surround yourself with positive people and people that love and care for you, but do not lose sight of feeling the emotions you are experiencing. You do not want to put a band-aid over them. instead, grow from the experience and lean on your loved ones in the darkest times. I hope this helps!
Have you considered writing in a journal? It's a way to write how you feel and
also go back and look to see if there are patterns that need to be broken.
I wish I had some easy way to help you get over a broken-heart, I know first hand
it's not a fun experience. Wish you well with mending your heart.
