Kbb- you have a kid, so there will be minimal contact. For people with kids, like us, anything outside of "kid business" is where the NC gets ruined. I know it's such a good feeling to go 14 days without talking...showing her, through lack of contact, that you're doing it...but don't beat yourself up, bud.

I contact my ex at least once a week, regarding kid convo. Not to would be to make things difficult for my kid, and that's not cool.

Please don't feel badly. You acted in your child's best interest. You should be proud that you put her needs first. I don't think you broke No contact if you weren't discussing your relationship.

You have a kid..Don't beat yourself up...just be true to yourself...just don't let her suck you back in. Remember what you deserve..remember she may have an agenda and remember that you have worth.

I believe it was TTMI that posted a couple of weeks ago that when she speaks with her ex it is like a business transaction. I really like that and I think moving forward that is how it should be. As long as nothing else is being discussed, you handled the situation appropriately. I was on Day 7 of NC and my STBX broke it yesterday and today concerning being removed from my cell phone plan. It had to be done and nothing else was discussed. I, too, was overwhelmed when he actually called, but realized, there is no need to be. We are getting divorced for a reason. NC is peaceful, but if you have children together, there are just going to be times where you cannot avoid it. Congratulations on how gracefully you handled the situation.

Folks with kids can't go entirely "No Contact" - you just have to keep it strictly biz. Good luck.

I want to add, that I think about important stuff in my son's life, and how I have informed his Dad,and nothing comes from it. Kindergarten graduation, I sat there alone, with a cafeteria full of parents, watching my kid "move up" and sing songs, etc...and his dad had a work meeting. His Dad has a lot of work meetings for someone in a low grade job. So, since then, I've never informed him of my son's school events. My attitude is, he can check their website, or, when he gets my son on Wed nights, he can see the "important dates to remember" the teacher typed out.

My son's birthday party is today. My son's birthday hasn't changed in 8 years, so instead of asking me if I'm having one, like I do every year, he assumes I'm not because I didn't inform him. It's called, make a phone call, dude. Send a text. Show initiation.

It was telling two weeks ago, when my bro came into town as a surprise, and he went to my son's school for lunch. His teacher was telling him how much she likes me as a parent for different reasons, then commented, "She's up here quite a bit. I don't know if I've ever met his Dad."

The point to my long winded thing here is that, even though people with kids have to have contact, which is true, the longer I am divorced, the more I realize that I don't have to contact him about everything because he's a grown ass man and should know some things on his own.

NC is nearly impossible when children are involved. But like I've been told, and as I've heard from friends here on DS, keep the convo as a business contract. Just discuss the children and their issues without any emotion at all.
As for school information, you can inform the school of the divorce and they will send out forms, info, upcoming events to both parents so it's not your responsibility to let your ex know what's going on. (A divorced friend of mine does this)

I'm not divorced yet. We are separated but he's still living here! Since October! Sigh.... It's very difficult to say the least.
