Hi everyone,
I am getting divorced after 31 years of marriage. I started dating my husband in college, got pregnant 4 months later, and then married 3 months after that. I was a city girl who married a country boy. I knew about a month into the marriage that I was really screwed but just kept up hope that things would work out. There were several times in the marriage when I really wanted to leave, but felt I had no where to go, and then I would get optimistic and think things would be ok. There is so much that I could type here. but basically we are divorcing friends. we have 4 grown children who are sad but okay-- they know that we have never been truly happy together. Although this is what needs to happen, the grief, anxiety, pain, hurt, etc, is completely overwhelming. I am in counseling. I will be making a big move soon to a different state where we own a vacation rental. My husband will stay in the house we have now. He has family in the area, I do not. My extended family is in Chicago,and I can't afford to live there. I have 2 kids in Rapid City (where we are now) and 2 in Texas. I am moving to the vacation rental (in AZ) because that is all I can afford to do at this point. A lot of rambling here,, sorry. I could sure use some friends with this common thread. I don't have a large group of female friends -- the ones I do have are happily married and don't understand. I am a miserable wreck. I

I am certain there are other things that you have not listed.
Maybe you can focus on your new life in AZ? What hobbies, job, friends, groups, classes, exploring, charity, goals will you become involved in?
I really think your divorce is starting out like so many others----
the husband is trying to act nice as long as he gets his way about the assets. He could be hiding stuff now too.
PLEASE, get to a lawyer ASAP so you won't be totally screwed. You deserve your share.

My stbx listened to his jezabel instead of his lawyer and fought everything. We just cameto a settlement agreement after I fied suit and got what I wanted. Please make sure you protect yourself to get whatyou are entitled to and dont let him control everything
