I have been divorced for a few months now and unfortunately, I cannot afford to leave so being forced to stay with the ex until I can move out.
I pay rent to the ex and in return I got a little money in an ira to live on even though I am not old enough to cash it in. I have taken out a few thousand already for necessities.
I told my case worker that I was divorced but still living with the ex. Ex got fired from her job but had no termination letter. I was told that where we are still living together I had to provide proof that ex is no longer working but ex will not help me at all. She will not ask for that letter!
I don't know what to do next. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

If you pay rent, you should do it in a check or money order, fro reasons like this -
I had a kid living here at one time and he was able to get ebt card. I just had to write a letter that said he was living there rent free until he got on his feet.
She should either write them a letter that says you are paying rent, or that you aren't paying rent. if it's cash, then hard to prove..either way.
You should also have to give social services a copy of your divorce decree.
It shouldn't matter to social services what she is doing. She will have to apply as a single person now.
