Hey all, just wanted to hear tales of how you got over your first loves?
My ex gf and I of broke up this april. We were so in love but everything spiraled for a few reasons. First of all, she was very ashamed of her sexuality and couldn't come to terms with it. She wanted me hidden at all costs. This made me needy and clingy because I felt she'd leave at any time. She would ignore me for days, and wouldn't make time to see me. She said "I love you, but loving you is killing me". It was a vicious cycle. In the end, she couldn't handle me or her own sexuality and the very real looming possibility that we would have to come out if we were to continue the relationship. Losing her was one of the hardest things that ever happened to me!
Two weeks after we broke up, she ran back to her ex bf, the guy she told me "Was boring" and that she didn't feel right with. She told me she was more in love with me than she'd ever been with anyone, and she had dated this guy for almost a year before she found me- it's funny how we hold on to certain things they said, isn't it?
Anyways, I am moving into a college dorm and hoping to start my life over away from her. Sometimes I get sad and worried that I'll never have with anyone else what I had with her, even though she treated me like crap!
I guess what I don't understand is why I continue to idolize her in my mind. It's not like we had this perfect, great relationship. It was always in my mind, I made her into who I wanted her to be.
Why can't I move on and open my heart to someone else?

I knw it seems perfect, and you'll never forget yuor first, I till feel that way about my first love, it wasnt great and i was treated rubbish, and im really glad im out of it but i cant help thinking of them now and then and i still idolised them now and then as i saw them as perfect..which is daft. Love is blind-trully! bt take the time to make yourself happy and the right person will come along and make the other girl seem like such a fling of the past =)
you WILL meet someone! I promise you will, going away to college is exactly where you should be right now, in one semester you will be so happy and will have met so many new people, you will be amazed!!!! That too is a promise. Hang in there!!
