Mom passed in May and my Dad passed three years ago. I still have family but it's not the same. Nowhere to turn to. I am truly happy you are able to speak with her about this. Cry toher and lean on her. That's what parents are for.
Years ago, stbx called my mother and complained a lot about me. He told her a whole bunch of lies too, things HE had actually done. He told her how I spent his aunt's inheritance on myself. She called me the next day very upset and said, "Samantha, how could you have done that?" I said, "Mom, think about it. I drive a 17 year old car that leaks oil, I buy my clothes at Goodwill and garage sales. If I spent all that money on myself, where is it? Have I taken a vacation recently? Do I have a new car? Did I get a boob job? Where did the money go?" She thought about it for a minute and then it was like she snapped out of the spell he wove and she said, "That son of a b*tch! He tried to pull the wool over my eyes!" Ever since then, she has not liked him or trusted him one single bit. She said she was waiting for the day I would divorce him.
Parents can really surprise you.
Luckily she will come see me and the kids during Christmas. I need to have someone in my life that supports me 100%. Not with conditions like my husband. That's the part that hurts the most - wasn't marriage supposed to be for better and for worse??
