With all this. My lawyer took care of my legal stuff.
I refused to move until i had the decree in place.
Decrees are legally binding document, all the
Distrubution is spelled out. When i took my car
In to re registered i brought in my decree it was
In his name and it was then changed over. Its like
a Death certificate after someone dies.
I am not sure how do it yourself divorces work,
If you get a decree or just get a settlement. Is it
All legally binding if the other party does not do
What they are suppose to.
You need to get your Name off the mtg and the
car loans. With my divorce my ex had to qualify
alone for a new mtg and Get new money too it
took him a year. HUGS
I don't want to give up my apartment because it was so hard to find one and my coworker is being very kind by renting to me and I don't know if I'd be able to find another one later. He can't change the locks before he buys me out can he?
My thinking is muddled this morning, I may be back to add to or amend this, but keep the appearance that the house is your legal residence. Your mail needs to go there and leave some possessions.
He can not bar you from the home if it's your legal residence without a court order.
For heaven's sake don't sign anything without an attorney. Nothing.
Most divorce lawyers want a retainer. I asked
My lawyer about just billing, nope they dont like
To do that for a divorce. I understand their reasoning
Its time consuming and a committment from them.
She wanted it when it was time to go forward with
the divorce. Hugs
While it should never come to that, and I hope it doesn't, don't be surprised at anything they'll try to pull to save themselves.
Attorneys are usually against this because if the ex wife remarries, alimony stops. If the ex husband has paid a lump sum which exceeds the amount of time the wife stays unmarried, then he's paid in excess of what he would have paid, had he paid monthly.
If you two worked out a lump sum by yourselves, an attorney might nix that idea. If that happens, you can try to ask for a larger share of the house. You just might be stuck with monthly alimony, and the hassles of a slacker not paying. I hope it doesn't come to that, but be prepared.
Probably because the papers had been filed
Already. I stayed with the house, he was in and
out. Had his mail come to the house kept clothes
There just did not live there. Every state is a little
Different on divorce rules and regulations. HUGS
