My husband and I have been having problems. A lot of them were caused by my denial of my depression. I have finally sought treatment and have been on meds for just two short weeks. I was starting to feel hopeful, we had a marriage counseling session and he stated what he needed. I agreed to try and then I got home and he had told our ten year old son he was moving out. That I make him miserable. I asked him about what he said and he told me yes I said that and I am done. I want a divorce.
I am devastated, I have needed him more than ever and he says he has no more patience for my problems. We have been married for twelve years and he has been my best friend and companion. I am now realizing I have shut myself off from other people and he, my son, and my work have become my only companions.
I just don't know how to deal with all of this.

What your experiencing sounds so much like what my husbands going through -- the denial and shutting down. Im not sure how long youve been experiencing this, and Im not trying to judge you at all : )... just as you know, it can be very draining to a significant other... when they feel they are putting in all the work. Hats off to your hubby for agreeing to counseling and working on your marriage with you. Thats more than Ive gotten from mine. Perhaps you have drained him - I sense he may have been going through this for some time and is exhausted (again ,, Im not trying to point any fingers : )) If you really love him, fight for him and see if your marriage in anyway shape or form can be salvaged. Also consider help for youself, so you dont carry this pattern into your next relationship .. Hugs

He is totally done. He went to a lawyer this morning. I had a hard time watching my mom die over the period of a year and I just couldn't deal with it. Or any of my emotions. I imagine he is drained, but then so am I. He asked to get help and it took a while, but I did. And now he no longer wants to wait for me to get better.

Hi sgreen: I am so sorry to hear what happened to you. Plus, he was all wrong in telling the child that you make him miserable and that was just so unnecessary and burdening the child with adult issues--You should relay that to your attorney and he should have to take parenting classes before he speaks to the child again. He cannot take out his hostility and resentment of you upon the child and that just wreaks of being so cruel to the child.

And please don't give up because you son needs you. Your husband is already setting a really poor role model for him and you can make a difference in his life by staying in it and being there for this child. Don't give up and know that your child needs you.

My husband originally agreed (reluctantly) to counseling. I went back on my anti depression meds and told him, I could tell it was going to make a difference. He said no the meds only help the situation a little. We each went to counseling once. I could tell by his attitude he really didnt want to work at this. When I talked to him about it, he said he did want to go to counseling for some of his own issues. I told him I felt he was done and wasn't interested in working on us. He shrugged his shoulders and that was that.
