Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
You also need to go through the process.
As for FB, my general rule in life, if you are not more certain than uncertain, in general it does no harm to wait a bit. Generally the answer to what you need to do becomes clear with a bit of space.
what is this separate ways FOR NOW stuff? you have to be decisive, Ranger, or she will play you like a fiddle. send her a message that says that you will defriend her in 24 hours so that you can pursue a brand new love life without her in it.
I agree with Faithful--send her a gentle message that basically says you are unfriending her so you both can move on with your lives.
Good luck. So sorry you're struggling.
and stop checking her facebook- it will drive you crazy. i speak from experience.
I might freak out too at the last minute, but, I would see it through or let you go, however, that is just me...I am adventurous by nature and not afraid to move to a new place.
I don't think "unfriending" her suddenly is very nice. That sends a clear message without really having to confront them. Just tell her you want to be free, don't use it as a manipulation tool, don't unfriend her, but ask her to change her settings since you are no longer in a relationship.
I decided to deactivated my account entirely (all you have to do is log back in to reactivate) and told my family and friends I just needed a break from it so there are no hurt feelings.
Reality is, I can't handle seeing him or knowing what he's up too right now. So this way I am sparing my own feelings.
Facebook has become bitter sweet for me... it can be just as unfriendly and devastating as it can be friendly and fun.
Try deactivating for about a month and when she starts to ask around what happened to you she will soon discover that she wasn't being singled out by you but that you were only taking a break...
I hope things work out for you!
Block her and move on. Sounds harsh, but she has stalled the relationship and left you in limbo. Worry about yourself now.
I would hide your wall from her and hide her status updates from your view. the others have good suggestions too.
I have an ex who shares about 50 or so of my friends and family on facebook!! When I decided it wasn't going to work between us, I let him know I was taking him and his family off my facebook friends list as I felt it was what I needed to do in order for us both to move on. For a while he seemed popping up everywhere! Eventually the message has got through that it's not healthy for either one of us.
I am now in a new relationship, and am careful about what I say to joint friends. If I ever feel like my ex is nosing into my new life using facebook, I will also use the block app.
