Vehicles, boyfriends, reasons and rationals aside - you CHOSE to have children, pouting like a 5 year old with the "well she doesn't talk to ME" attitude is childish.
Step it up, throw a couple of hundred at the situation and you can hold your head up knowing you showed responsibility and did your part in this.
If you don't think her well being is something you should help with I have no idea what to tell you on that.
If you look at your custody papers there may be a statement there of what percent of medical bills you are to pay, I had 50% of all medical and dental put in mine, because my x-wife has the same attitude, I can't even get her to pay her CS regularly.
Dead beat dads get so much flack, it appears there are moms that fit that as well.
That's total crap. Your kid is your kid regardless of the type of relationship you have with them. It's not like he bought her a car or something, it's something she medically needed. Be a parent first, save the anger for another time. Your child did not ask to be here. You have a responsibility to her - split it 50/50.
It is your child too regardless of whether you have a cordial relationship with her or not.
Where half of the $400 sounds fair, then again he is paying into the medical insurance plan and bearing the brunt of the premiums etc...so I think it's fair that you pay up the $400.
I don't know why you are overthinking this and connecting the purchase of a new car into this dental issue.
I speak from personal experience when I say I think sometimes we just have to deal with the situation and not bring in 3rd parties such as boyfriends, girlfriends, family members opinions to fuel issues.
The issue is your childs teeth and health and your obligations as a parent.
She told me over a year ago she didn't want my money, wanted nothing to do with me, and to never contact her again.
My 4 teeth were taken out by an oral surgoen, it was an emergency procedure, they were shattered from an accident, and it was a long procedure.
I would be willing to pay, but asked that my daughter made contact, kept in contact, and stopped in when she was in town. I still haven't heard.
I would do anything for my children, but I deserve respect in return.
I haven't abanboned her, she abandoned me. Until she's ready to accept my new life, I won't give a dime. I told my ex this, I will pay 1/2 for our sons expenses, but she's an adult.
My purchases have nothing to do with this at all. I don't go out to bars or dinner. I hate shopping, unless I have to, then it's clearance rack. With the new vehicle, it was getting rid of what my ex wanted, I was never a part of the decision. I needed to get his supiority out of my life.
You can't judge until you've been there, and hopefully you don't have to go through this.
This is her first major problem with her teeth. She had 2 minor cavities, and that's it.
My first dentist messed up my families mouths so much, it just followed us the rest of out lives.
My teeth, what I have left of them have bridges, crowns, veneers and a retianer making it look like I didn't lose 4 teeth.
My son has bad teeth. He had 4 cavities at age 2. His dentist used him in a demonstration at dental college at how to do procedures on children. He's had so much done, the dentist doesn't phase him.
When she was here, speaking with me, I gave her my credit cards to get whatever she needed. When she told me to never contact her, it broke my heart. I still would give her whatever she needs, but there's a time when you have to say no.
