I know what this feels like, completely onesided. Iam unsure of your question of how to cope since you mentioned that you broke up.
There is no way to change anyone else as Im sure you have heard.
If there is a possibility of getting back together, if it was myself I would make it understood that I was not interested in being in a relationship with someone who does not have the capabilities to love and be open.

Similar situation here - avoidance, neglecting problems, turning thiings around on me. Finally pulled the plug mysefl ,but it still hurts. I just keep trying to look to the future and remind myself that i did the best thing for me and I was miserable, so why go back. It does get better with time, but you will have days where it will seem very raw again.

Yes! I was in a relationship with an emotionally unavailable man for over a decade and I can feel your desperation and sadness. Being with someone like this over time makes you crave attention because youre not getting it from your partner and leaves you very lonely. I always thought it would turn around and the relationship would work, but it never happened : ( Some people are just not equipt to handle emotions... you deserve to be in a relationship with a giving, communicative open person. Yes!- I was with my ex fiance for 12 yrs and although he started off romantic and loving, that soon went away with time. Maybe it was all of our fighting, maybe it was him being EU, but I was so lonely and so miserable. I wouldn't leave because of my co-dependency until one day I realized he was never going to give me the relationship that I wanted. It's still hard almost a year later and seven months NC (he has since moved on to a new relationship in which she said on FB "I've never felt love like this before- it's like a fairy tale" yeah okkkk).

I would def recommend the book Mr Unavailable and the Fallback Girl by Natalie Lue. It was a huge help in the early months when I thought every thing was my fault and that I ruined the relationship. It will really help you open your eyes to the fact that EU men probably do not change. Also check out her website www.baggagereclaim.com. She has great articles on there as well.

I know exactly what you mean, its like we're the ones that cared, we're the ones that tried, and in the end we seem to be the only ones who hurt. I guess the fact that our ex's dont seemed phased or upset by break up should show us we made the right decision in walking away, I dont want to be with someone who could take me or leave me. Some day some one out there will care about me as much as I do them............and same for you. It sucks being where you are now just keep doing whatever makes you happy even if its just for a few minutes here and there..........at least its something :)

I mean you have to explain emotionally unavailable. My ex seems indifferent, but men love differently and they handle breakups differently. Remember, we're the sex that's high in estrogen. So emotionally, we'll never be on the same level.

Sorry I forgot to give advice. Because so much has happened to you around the same time, don't let yourself get overwhelmed. Choose one focus at a time - spend a few hours job hunting, a few hours searching for housing, then a few hours in a social setting. These are all great distractions and it will feel terrible for awhile, oh dear god yes. Starting life over ain't easy. But with everything that was hard in the beginning, you will eventually adjust. It just takes time. We're all in the same boat.
