Well I have been divorced since February of this year. We were married for 11 years together for 13. We split off and on for a will and I broke it off in December of 2016 for sure. I couldn't take the beatings any more. Well he tried to get my back. I met someone that we clicked instant and became close friends. After a few month it started to become more then that. My at the time soon to be ex husband found someone to. But as time went on we finally get to court about our divorce he has tears in his eyes and after that will not talk to me has his new girlfriend talk to be about our children because he is still hurting. I'm like hurting why u beat me you did this. I'm the one that should still be hurting. But my thing is I know she is controlling him because he would never do what he is doing now. I know he still cares.

Anyone who beats their spouse doesn’t love them and never will. It is not love, it is abuse. People can say what they want, but actions speak louder than words.

He may still "care" but that doesn't equate to romantic love.

I have been divorced for 19 years. I still care about my ex. That's doesn't mean I still love him or that I want to be with him. It means I shared a part of my life with him and he is the father of my children.

And my ex's new wife was the go-between with me regarding the many things that come up with the children. It didn't mean he was too upset to talk to me, it meant that as the mother figure when the kids were with him, it was easier to converse with her about the day-to-day kid stuff.

If he beats you it doesn’t matter how he feels that’s not ok. You need to move on and have as little contact with him as possible. It’s going to be harder with kids but they don’t need a family where the husband abuses the mom.

Move on- the hurting will simmer down and eventually pass- handle all in a professional manner,You take the high road- especially when kids are involved.

I know it can be confusing when you've left a toxic relationship to understand the emotions of it all. Your former husband may be hurting. Maybe he is realizing how he treated you and it trying to forgive himself. Maybe consider thinking about yourself and not so much about your former husband's feelings. It's hard to know what he is feeling and how he and his new girlfriend interact. Maybe focus on your new relationship and try to move forward and do what's best for your children. I'm glad that you are no longer being abused. No on deserves that type of treatment. It takes a strong person to say enough is enough. Wishing you the best.

Thank you all for commenting. I know the pain will go it just is weird because they stock me wanting to find out everything. And that he will not talk to me is crazy. But it is what it is. I need to let go.

He may care or be remorseful but that's a lesson learned for him. It's good that he might be growing as a person. But you deserve better. No abuse is worth it. He did it for whatever reason with you. It will get better. You can have contact for the children if you chose but don't feel sorry for him. Don't believe he is different. You have to close that door and more on.

There is something better out there for you than him.
