Fights about finances, in my opinion, are still about the marriage. People who have widely differing views about earning money/saving/spending may have a tougher time in their marriage, and will have to devote more time to discussing finances. If your communication skills are lacking as a couple, and you have differing views on money, you will fight about finances. It's not the finances, inherently, it's the communication.

I would be upset about my son dropping out of school too. That's a big stressor, for sure. I hope something can be worked out in regard to this. What does he say? Is he for going ahead and getting the ged at home, does he want to just get a job, or is he looking for some fun times? Make sure he has some goals that he can work toward. I have two boys - one a freshman in college, one a HS junior. So far the divorce doesn't seem to have affected their schooling - but who knows. Some behaviors show up later in some people.

I think his behavior is affected because he was so involved in the discovery and her subsequent anger toward him. He just wants to be on his own at this point. I told him he could live with me, but he does not want to right now. I just tell him I love him and I will be there for him if he needs me. I need to go on a long walk.

You are only reacting normally. So you texted her, so what. You have feeling and thoughts that need to be dealt with. If you find yourself doing this frequently like I did in the beginning, and it is only upsetting you worse, try to set goals to get away from doing so and it will eventually become easy. But I totally get it - you were pissed and wanted her to know so. Been here and done that ;)

STex - I am never surprised how communication with an ex can cause our emotions to go from logical and reasonable to angry, upset, frustrated, sad, all rolled into one. I agree that an honest conversation from spouses before they choose to have an affair is what decent, considerate people would do. Unfortunately, there are too many that do not feel that way. My son went from being a straight A student to failing classes his junior year after his father left. No one will convince me otherwise that the abrupt departure of his father who moved 1000 miles away was not the major factor.

It absolutely did cleigh. My son is in all honors classes, he just all of a sudden turned stupid. The day that I left my wife had the nerve to say he was on a great path. I said how us failing a great path? I guess if she tells herself the lies long enough you believe them.
Sbc I was really proud of myself going the whole week! I think being up all night contributed to my weakness. I getting back on the horse and will not make that mistake again.
