Hi girl! Please stay strong. I'm going through exactly the same thing at the moment! All I can say is to keep your dignity about you and try your best to keep your mind off everything. I found that cycling today helped take the pain away temporarily. Things will get better. See if you can get any closure from him. It's the least you deserve and some respect x

People may not just change instantly. They probably were thinking of and planning a leave for a long time, secretly. Then they just sprang it upon you. For them, it's now they have finally told you and they can go to their next step. For you, it's a big shock and tragic news. You are trying to deal with the sudden news while the other person has been dealing with it in their mind for maybe a few months already? They are much ahead in dealing with this decision and accepting it.

I agree with Walmer. The other person has already gone through the grieving process. Try to look at the long term situation: For whatever reasons, the other person didn't see a future with you now. As hard as that is to accept, if they had stayed with you longer you would have wasted more of your life with them only to find that they didn't want to continue in the relationship. I know this is very painful right now, but trust me when I say it would have been much worse if you had been in a long term relationship.

I understand the feeling as my husband seemed to shift so suddenly as well. I know how much it hurts and hope you find the solace to get through. The best thing for the pain is to let it flow and ride the waves of emotion that accompany it. Find things to distract yourself so your mind can have that respite too. Try to take care of yourself during the healing process. It's a process that unfortunately takes time

You must be reeling right now. I am so sorry. It's a raw, relentless pain right now. It does lessen but you have several stages of loss to endure. He might be a good guy but perhaps not the guy for you, if he couldn't even discuss his feelings and intentions. Are you still in touch with him or no contact? If the decision is made and no turning back, then if you can go no contact it will help you heal more quickly. Right now though, I remember all too well that every day is a struggle. Set yourself little goals each day. Cry, mourn, allow yourself wallowing time and take care of yourself. I found writing helped too. Especially when my loss and disbelief turned to anger (another stage). And read all the posts out there online. There are so many websites, blogs etc dedicated to break up - and of course this support group right here. At least you know you're one of so many out there suffering this way. Do take care and I hope you start to feel better and see that glimmer of hope again soon.
