Sounds like a pain! Think of something that you cam reward ourself with when you get done--if just getting rid of the stuff isn't reward enough!

I read your profile--is this guy going to jail?

He is currently in jail waiting for a grand jury to be seated so that he can be indicted. He has admitted it and said that he doesn't want it to go to trial so I can only assume that after the indictment he will plead and be sentenced.

Any other suggestions? I could really use the help.

It is tough. My husband left and never came home. I bagged it all up in garbage bags and put it out by the front door and told him to come get it. The bigger things we worked out later. It can be emotional...I just tried to hurry up and shove as much stuff in bags as I could. I know it may not be that easy for you. Sorry you are having to go through this. ((hugs))

Speaking of someone who had her things "packed" for her... please take the high road and treat it with respect. My ex threw away all of my family pictures, and pictures from my travels, and all of my family heirlooms were broken. He even used my shoes as packing material for my stereo.

As much as he has hurt me I can't bring myself to be cruel and disrespect his stuff. He requested that I not get rid of all the pictures of us so any I had that I didn't want I am going to send with his belongings. BTW thanks to all who have written I appreciate it.

That is very generous of you to take it to his family. My X took everything important to him, his personal things and his PS2. Anything I found that was his, I tried offering it to him, but he would throw it away in front of me, or tell me to keep it until I realized he wanted me to have these momentos to keep reminding me of our past while he moves on. He doesn't even want things now, like the science fair project he worked on with my daughter, or all the toys he would get them for Christmas or their birthdays. He wants a clean bachelor pad while scattering toys all over my house, it's ok, my kids rule. I just throw away anything I find now, he had his chance to take it, I think that is fair after 2 years.

Anyway good luck and if you have given him opportunity to get his stuff, it is fair to do with it as you need to.

I just packed up my husbands stuff today. He has been out of the house for a year. I couldn't even go into my closet because his clothes were still in there. It hurt to much. I am just now able to go in there and pack his things. This is the beginning of a new year, and I must move on. I was lucky enough to have a friend come over and support me. I didn't do anything to his stuff. I packed it with respect and even still with love in my heart, but I must let him go. I hope it will help with the healing. Good luck to you.

It is generous of you to take the stuff to his grams, given his situation. You could also get a storage unit, put it in his name and give the key and info to his gma to handle. Maybe hire a local mover, that might only cost you about $100 and then send the bill to his gma. Of course, not expecting to be paid, but at least you will get it out of there.

I could hire a mover and send a bill but there isn't so much stuff that I can't take it all in one trip and honestly his grandma (who raised him) is 77 and a sweet lady. I don't feel that she should have to pay for it when she can't really afford it. I have his debit card and am planning on using the money that is in there to pay for the gas for the trip. The storage unit is a novel idea though.
