All day today I have been trying to be rid of the thoughts running through my mind. Trying to do this by jamming out to music at work. But nothing has helped. D day is 3 days away. This is the day I go to the court house to start the divorce process. I am terrified, not for the actual divorce but for not knowing what the day will bring. I don't know of he will bring his gf, even though I asked him not to and told him if she was there I will not sign anything and will walk away. And if she is there and I walk away will they follow me and try to run me over or run me off the road? I say this because she has tried to hit me in a parking lot and he has become violent ever since being with her and has almost punched me in my head while punching my pillow. I just wish I could for see the future to know what to expect.
Ditto regarding the restraining order, and at the very least, ask how that process works if you don't know already. The job of everyone at that courthouse is to enforce the laws and protect people. You are people!
It's normal to be terrified of this huge unknown. I kept telling myself I was going to be as strong as people often assume I am, even though I didn't feel it. Fake-it-till-you-make-it was my motto back then, and it worked. Every time I left that courthouse, I felt empowered. Stronger.
