Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
You are in a way running from pain by holding on to a relationship that no longer "is" but letting go requires you facing your fears and pain and we do not like doing that.
You are having trouble accepting that he has someone new - that is why you tell him "we can no longer ride together" - you are hoping for a reaction from him.
In my opinion, it's time for you to have a conversation about boundaries with your ex. These convos require us being clear and firm - are you ready for that? - If you aren't attending counseling - please do. You have wasted 3 years in a limbo - your energy sounds like you'll spend another 3 years if you don't finally find the courage to end the uncertainty.
So sorry for how you feel - feelings suck - sometimes we have to function with our brains.
But that's not your problem anymore. A stern conversation about boundaries is the right thing.
Telling him you can no longer ride together (as painful as that is) is a great start at boundaries. Things are NOT OKAY, so there is no use in pretending that they are or being confined in a car with someone who hurt you so badly. You need to spend time in safe spaces where you can breathe or cry or break down...whatever you need to do.
Do what you need to do to cope with your new reality and everyone else (aside from your kids of course) can wait on the other side. Now is about you.
Are you able to see this? - if so, how are you going to end it?
