I think the healthier thing than trying to lie to ourselves about what's really going on in our lives, is to e REALISTIC about it instead, that most everyone experiences loss or setback in their life sometimes, but that it doesn't diminish our value as a person, and that we humans are built to be resilient, that we almost ALWAYS get back up after being knocked down.
that is the game that many abandoning spouses play. they walk away from good people in a vain effort to win someplace else.
Sorry for typos
it's not a zero-sum-game in this life, that our winning must be at the cost of another's losing
That's Sheen's thinking,m that nobody is as great as he is...that's about as losing a mentality as I've experienced in my life (it was precisely my ex's worldview).
I had a great conversation a number of years ago with a vintner (local hero and world renowned). He set up what is now known as VQA (Vintner's Quality Alliance) which took Niagara's wine into the international arena to accolades. I asked him what inspired him to do it, and he said, if all of the vintner's in the Niagara Region could win, that meant he won too. And they, and he, have. He is a wealthy guy, and has created a lot of wealth for a lot of other wine makers.
That to me is the winning attitude. That's it's not me, I'm a winner, but rather, I'm a winner among winners.
By failing to acknowledge reality and sticking to his "winning" mentality, charlie has not adjusted his sails or corrected his errors. He is inflexible.
