Everyone is different. You take all the time you need to process what is going on in your life, however, don't let it be the "end' of your life. I never thought, in those first couple months, that I would survive this. I did. My ex did me a favor. I hope you get to that point too.
Unfortunately, life can be like a roller coaster. Sometimes you have to hold on for dear life and scream your head off. I wish you the best. You deserve better
I practiced this when my husband of 12 years told me he wanted a divorce. It was apparent that he had made up his mind and there was no going back. Rather than fight the process and dwell in emotions, I "detached" and focused on forward movement, not looking backwards at all the "coulda, shoulda, wouldas". I didn't dwell in the "good times" memories viewed with rose colored glasses. I accepted the reality of the situation. And because I focused on fact rather than feeling, I recovered relatively quickly and successfully. So successfully that I am now happily remarried to my current husband for going on 16 years.
I don't have any bad feelings to my ex, he did some pretty shitty things but that is his character and I married a narcissits so that is my responsibility to not ignore the red flags. I was good at that.
I am grateful to be on my own, and I hope the best for him period
