I have always said, "it's always something"
But I think you better Not ask what's next. I think You've got the "it comes in 3's" covered.
Good luck.
Just keep plugging along.
I tend to think it's a time of being refined for a greater purpose, a higher calling. We are at our most stressed time and now these stupid things come along and test us! Both my friend and I have been strapped for cash and so it was a real bummer to have to think about spending what we don't have. Infuriating about the things. But it all has a purpose. Dealing with so many different kinds of problems at once proves to us that we are stronger than we thought we were.
Hope things get better!
I leave the big stuff to the pros, but I'll do my own water heater next time. And I'm now a big fan of wainscoting...LOL
My boyfriend is an excellent cook. I think his comment about my son comes from the fact my son was raised to be independent, and his wife still treats their son as a baby. He doesn't think his son could boil water, or even allowed to try.
I was taught to cook when I was 7, and always included my kids in helping me. My son is taking home economics next year, and I'm proud that he tested out of basics class.
Anyway, back to my original post, forgot to mention that my snowblower died in thee middle of winter. Luckily, my boyfriend owns a plow, and my neighbors let me use their snowblowers.
And, the empowering thing is I'm (OK - boyfriend helps) getting things done on my own.
You need to tell your boyfriend to lay-off your son about his love of cooking. Most of the famous chefs are men. Its your job to protect your boy's self esteem.
Good luck...
Have you read "falling apart in one piece"? This lady had problem after problem with her house right around the time her husband left...its told in a humorous and uplifting way..
I moved out of my house and in the last 3 weeks I have to use ALL of my savings to go to Mississippi twice because my Gramma died. A tire blew on my truck(EXPENSIVE) and now I'm told I need rear brakes....ugh!
So the little stash I had to get me started was completely depleted withing the first 2 weeks. :(
But I am still goin. Just gotta laugh about it I guess.
Oh, and Chef's by the way, are usually VERY prominent people. BF needs to back up of your son's interests. JMO. :)
My daughter was going to be a chef, now she's studying food nutrition, and the science of creating food products. She's a research assitant in creating new, healthy food products.
She happily irritates me with her knowledge, and I know where she got it from.
My son doesn't aspire to be a chef, but he has potential.
My boyfriend knows how bad my marriage was, and admires that my kids are intelligent, well mannered and behaved.
He already has problems with his son - overweight, ADHD, not prone to excel at athletics, etc, let alone how his wife babies him.
Which is why he finds it hard to divorce.
So I understand where he's coming from.
