It's my birthday today.
My son slept over at a friends last night, and he's going to his dad's tonight.
I was hoping that I could see him this morning, one, he promised me he would clean up the mess he made, and two, it's my birthday.
My boyfriend told me were ever he is supposed to be, call him and make sure he cleans his mess. We came to the conclusion, leave the mess until he's here again.
I'm sure he has no idea it's my birthday, and my daughter wants nothing to do with me (because of the divorce). I've lived so many years being married, and having my birthday ignored, so it's no big deal.
My boyfriend says he is going to do something special. I am so unprepared.
I'm turning 47, and it's been over 17 yrs since I've had a happy celebration.
Is it too much to ask to be happy?

My boyfriend treated me to wonderful night. While I was busy doing something, he snuck in my present. It was a bunch of silk flowers, and a 3 pack of lace underwear wrapped around the stem of the flowers. What was precious was listening to him shopping for them at Walmart. He didn't know my size, so was trying to open them and picture me - he did perfectly. But, he had store personnel and customers looking at him strangly, and he felt uncomfortable.
We then went to the bar we normally frequent, had birthday shots, something to eat, and came back to my house.
He called this morning to see how I was, and asked me to scratch and sniff his card. He sprayed the card with his cologne.
For the people who are looking for cheap, but exciting ideas - my boyfriend did it.
I found my happy!
