i dont think all men are bad just because of what i have allowed some men to do to me/what they have done to me. just like i dont think all women are bad by the same token.
when i learn to love me again, which i feel happening with the shifts and changes in me each day, i think outwardly i will be expressing a differnet kind of energy and will therefore attract a new different kind of love. maybe a more mature love?
your definition of love isnt wrong- its personal to you. and there is nothing wrong with that. i feel lonely a lot too. even surrounded by friends/family/animals. but im not alone. and we will all get there together. sending ((hugs)) your way.
I can remember having a very different idea of what love was before I left my exhusband, and it changed again after having broken up with my exS.
It's why on my profile I list myself as a former idealist, and now I am a defensive realist 9well, maybe not so defensive these days).
It seems to me what we expect love to be, and what love really is, are two different things.
if you don't find someone you feel is appropriate, but you aren't content being alone, then I suggest therapy to work out what's filling the gap between the two.
Best wishes.
Saint Augustine says the only one who can love you truly and fully is God, because love with a human only allows for flaws such as jealousy, suspicion, fear, anger, and contention. According to Saint Augustine, to love God is to attain the peace which is yours.
Yendh, I am sorry that you are feeling so lonely...I think we are all with you in your feelings, but the past week, this place, these people have helped me so very much. Still sad, still in love, still willing to give him time......but healing one day at a time!
Love is unconditional. Love means doing something without expectation of something in return. Being a giver AND a receiver; still getting butterflies after 10, 5, 20 years of marriage; holding hands regardless of your age; being able to communicate your feelings without being concerned that you may offend...
These are some of the things that I believe love is...feel free to add more
Real love is the love I have for my friends and family.
I've never been a failure in love. The love I had at the time with my then husband, was real, and it felt good. I still have love for him, just not EROS love.
I know I will have that again, if I choose. :)
In my friends' mind, I'm a smart, strong, self-control girl. They come to me when they need to vent and support. But for me, I can't tell my friends because if I do, they'll see me with a pitied look and may lose the self-belief that I tried to help to build inside them. It is ridiculous because now it's me who is losing faith.
This is the only place I can be at this moment. Please support me.
