Ugh. I have no clue. I hear about people my age meeting new people and getting married again etc...and I can't figure out how or where they meet them. The only men I know are either relatives or the husbands of my friends. I can't remember the last time I had even a discussion with a man other than my husband. I work as a teacher at a small Montessori school where all the employees are women and the only men I see are the married fathers of the children there. I believe I am ready to date, but don't know how I will ever meet anyone. I don't want to go looking for it, that's for sure.

In a small town that will be challenging. You likely will have to go to festivals and churches in neighboring cities. Or travel a little to your closest big city.

Check your paper for other meeting events and never turn your nose up to a wedding invitation. Then there are church groups or volunteer work may turn up interesting prospects.

That's what I have done. I've made great friends and have dated some too. But don't chat too long before meeting a guy at the local coffee pub--you risk emotional attachment to somone who may not be physically attractive to you. Oh. and make sure you are well versed on the signs of dating a married man.

Look every where you go, everyone you talk to. At the grocery, the library, the bar, restaurant, gym, anywhere. To get your self confidence up, talk to a lot of people about anything(news, weather, latest movie, book, clothes, food), then it's easier to talk with someone you may be interested in. I get people laughing all the time, just talking about nonsense.

I'm with zipped on this one. meetup.com is a nice place to start. Find a group you would be interested in and join. I did this and have several groups that I go to. I make new friends all the time. Also, plentyoffish.com is ok but just watch who you are meeting. I am a member but haven't really talked to many on there-in some ways just seems wrong.

I meet people everywhere... But I get hit on all the time at hardware stores, Sam's, and especially the gym... I have not dated in over 20 years and must admit it scares me...
