Contact the State Bar for where you live. Ask for the agency in your county that offers free legal advice. Its usually called "legal aid". Every county has one. Or you can try the County Bar Association. Write me if you need more info..I've worked legal for 25 years..Be more than happy to help.

Lawyers at least in my view, cost way too much for the little time they spend working. Seems like the only "free advice" is when you are already in jail. At least that is what is portrayed on TV.

Call the bar association in your area and tell them what's going on and ask for attorneys that do "Pro bono". Pro bona is free and they will attempt to charge the other party.

I also discovered that in our county, they have staff that will help you complete all the paperwork you need to complete. A judge running this mandatory parenting class we attended said you don't need an attorney to get a divorce but you have to do all the work (complete paperwork) that an attorney does to finish the divorce. They suggested that you do it yourself in order to get things done in a civil manner if you could.
