My divorce was final at end of March from a husband who emotionally detached himself from me a while ago in our 10 year marriage. I handled the divorce process like business and have been doing fine for a while. But this weekend I found out from my 5 year old that the kids met his girlfriend who stayed over the night with them at his place. I went through a lot of emotions after this discovery - sadness, anger etc. mostly I was pissed that he totally ignored our divorce decree that says to introduce any SO to each other prior to meeting the kids. I have no desire to meet his GF but I am upset that he didn't bother even informing me about it. When I confronted him he basically said he would never introduce someone he was not serious with. I just responded that we were divorced in March it hasn't been that long. Of course the truth is that he was probably cheating on me before the divorce but I still don't comprehend why he care so little about me. We were married for 10 years and share 2 kids. Why doesn't he have the decency to follow the proper protocol or atleast consider my feelings at all? Maybe he thinks I'm completely fine but who wants to find out from their kids about their ex's affairs?
I know I should not expect anything from an ex but I wanted to believe that he was atleast a decent coparent.
I am so sorry that you have to go through this pain. The kids must be still very young if you were married for 10 years.
It would be nice if we could have a say in who dates who.. but once we are divorced, we don't really have any part in what our exs do.
It probably is too soon to introduce another person into the kids' lives, but it's already done.
What's going to happen is if his gf creates any discomfort for your kids, they will pass on visitations with their father in the future.
