I suggest making something happen after work. Create your own NEW day. Treat yourself to something special. It can be symbolic of letting go of the past and creating a new...

Do something nice for yourself. Get a pedicure or a massage. Call a friend and go out for a glass of wine. Something for you. Big hugs.

Make a new memory for this day. Every anni. will get less and less. I know it's easier said than done.........stay strong ((hugs))

Rose, you CAN think of today! You did marry someone you loved and you had all the best hopes for Happily Ever After. It was honest, it was real and there is no shame in that.

The fact that it didn't turn out forever is just reality. I will celebrate my 28th on 4th of July. My favorite holiday and that's why I chose that day to be married on.

I laugh and cry thinking about how young we were and how we were gonna rule the world. I have no regrets, I remember the moment and that day fondly, but I mourn the end of the marriage.

The 4th of July will always be a holiday, always be my anniversary and there's no avoiding it. I will decorate, barbq and watch the fireworks as usual, but I will do it alone and that's just fine with me.

I understand totally, I recently went through my "first" anniversary without my stbx. We now have been married for 32 yrs. There was certainly nothing to celebrate that day in regards to my marriage. But, I was surprised at how well I handled the day! In a few weeks it will be one year since he told me he wanted a divorce and then packed up and moved to another state. I'm making plans to keep busy during that time so I don't think about it to much. However, I have finally figured out that his leaving me was probably one of the best things he ever did for me!

My anniversary is around the corner and as I book events in my calendar for the day, I have the same feelings.

It is part of my life. That will never change. I am hoping my emotions will settle down about it as the day passes.

Thank you all, I am going to go to my sisters house she said she has the wine cooler ready. she has been my support through this and I am sure she will help me with this. And if my niece is there with her 2 year old who I adore, it will be nice, she just makes your heart melt. I am going to try to keep my mind occupied, and not think if we were together we would be going to dinner. or remember 21 years ago I was getting married. I know that is not productive.

I hope that you can get the place that I am....My anniversary was yesterday. the first one since the break up and I did good....and you will get there too........ but it has to suck.... BTW I was married for 31+ years and have been divorced almost a year...... It will get better....

no comparison in years but probably in confusion and pain as my 2 year anniversary is in 4 days. She did not even try to work on the marriage, she said she could not see it lasting so though it best end now......good effort hun!
