Take the car into another shop have it all looked over (it is fall so all cars should be checked for winter driving anyways)if there is nothing wrong then all you did was prepare yourself for winter and that is a good feeling but if there is something wrong like brake lines disconnected then that maybe a ver big concern and you may need to go to the police to make a report. I doube that he would harm the kids and you but I do not know what his state of mind is and what if any drugs he may be using. Be careful and take the car to the shop ASAP!!!!

Di, you have no reason to think your stbx is a violent or abusive man, do you? I can't be certain, but I don't recall that kind of history for you. If there's no history, it's probably just tough guy talk. He's watched too many movies. If there is history, however, file a police report.

No Frank. No violence before. I think its tough guy talk, too. But, I know we all have had some sort of mind bending wishes against the ex. We just dont act on them, and I really dont think he would either. But one never knows what might make someone snap.

You're not being stupid. But, maybe it was just a statement. (No threat intended.) I would go with the winter rundown idea. Always better to be safe. But, we all know now. Tell a friend or two as well. Then if something happens, your covered. But, don't worry about it too much. Don't let it be a head game...

you know head game or not, i would take it as a threat, and just to fry his ass, i would call the police and make out a report. enough is enough, i don't care if you hate each others guts, there is too much craziness out there now a days. perhaps the police should have a talk with him. wouldn't that take the wind out of his sails. does he think he is so tough, he can threaten a woman and basically the car his children will be in with her? history or not. he should not be able to get away with saying such things. get a restraining order if you have to. time for him to grow up and be a man.

I would have to say everyones ex has a tone that they don't like to hear, and when it is heard one tends to snap back or become offended. I don't think it is a head game he is playing, the way we decipher the comment and deal with it that creates a conflict with in us and it usually brings a little anger with it. I think it is a head game we play on ourselves, his comment was probably not meant to be heard the way you heard it. But what the hell do I know....I could be a fucktard.

Keep a diary of contacts and interactions with him.
You know the deal
get a note book or pocket calender and keep a journal of oll your dealings with him.
the good and the bad.
that will help protect yourself
and you might learn about yourself to.
He could have ment that you were a bad driver.My stbx was a horibly aggresive driver.
she was a tailgator and a speeder
