Nope, you're not the only one. I just tried dating again this week and ooh boy, they pretty much want - heck, EXPECT - a free prostitute. And what's with the constant texting and asking out by text? I've only been out of the game for 4 years, I didn't think so much would change. And now that I'm in my mid-20's, the baby question appears to be the first thing asked and now I have to be worried that guys are just seeing me as a booty call and/or an incubator.

When I see couples, I usually assume it's a guy with his "other woman". So... that doesn't really make me jealous, just bitter.

I keep throwing little pity parties for myself, too, but they're more from a generalized feeling of having been cr*pped on. I know I'm not ready for a relationship yet, so the couples thing doesn't bother me as much as I'm sure it might later... it's my career that's my trigger right now. :(

You're definitely NOT the only one. I cried on and off all the way home from a nice Easter gathering at my sister's, first Easter without my ex. It'll be a year at the end of this month that I kicked my ex out for cheating. We were together for almost 12 years. I'm trying the online dating thing and it seems texting is a big part of how things are done now. I'm so not up-to-speed with dating, so much has changed... I don't know if I'm ready or not. It varies depending on my mood and a zillion other things. I do know I feel lonely and isolated and similar to what you described. You are definately not alone. I hate watching romantic movies and reading magazines. Use to love doing those things. I hate going out in public and seeing happy couples and families everywhere. I had this at one point, but the guy turned out to be a total asshole and user. I was with him and his kids last year for Easter and was alone this year. I have gone out a couple times since the break up, but nothing serious. Guys are all assholes to me at this point. I di not trust any of them. I am trying to focus on the positive things going on in my life, but it is very difficult for me. I use to look forward to the weekends after a long work week, to be with friends and family, but still find myself isolating everyone around me.... hang in there... Hugs

I'm unfortuantely with utterpain up there. I've been very dismayed to realize that yup, the pretty much *do* expect a free prostitute, many are so love starved you wonder what they've been doing all these years, and even the most educated and professional among them become whiny, tantrum throwing babies when they don't get what they want. Some even become nasty. And the texting. And BOY do they want to sext. I DON'T. Sorry to the men here, but this is based on two years of post divorce dating and its been the truth in my experience, which is why I've given up on dating until I meet someone who behaves like a person, and not someone looking for a quickie before he kicks off.

Heck no. I'm even jealous of the people who I know are in unhappy relationships. I have a really hard time liking someone too- only the finest completely disfunctional people for me please!

I agree - I think it is totally normal - it used to bother me tons - now I am relishing in cultivating new/old friendships and exploring the area I am in now. Honestly - I dont even plan to get into a relationship any time soon - and I dont feel it is a great loss - I am simply learning this new way of life that I have created for myself - its pretty fun. :)

I'm know I'm beating a dead horse, but i feel the same way. Happy couples don't bother me so much anymore, but seeing the children do. curse those happy families where everything works fine! relationships dont bother me a whole lot becuz i found someone (separated for 9 months). what does bother me is seeing everyone moving on with their lives (buying a house, having a baby, etc) while mine is falling apart.

I may be weird (ok, I know I am!), but I actually love watching romantic movies. It gives me hope that not all relationships everywhere suck. I know they're not real life, but damn, if life could just be a little like that, then maybe I'd take a chance in the future. I don't really get bothered by other couples/families that appear happy, because I just think to myself that they probably have some dysfunction going on at home that we just can't see. (Well, it works for me!)

It took me nearly 4 years post separation to consider dating... I am on another break at the moment... during that time I isolated. I could only watch comedies I barely functioned beyond parenting a preschooler and going to work... Be gentle with yourself.

I can absolutely relate to finding the...sext crazed...free prostitute seeking low life, bottom feeders on the dating scene of today!!! Here's hoping that there is such a thing as fate for us, deserving few huh??
