For some it comes so easy to say "I love you". The power that these words have is strong. It can crush one when the truth comes out and love is not really there.

Particularly when you already heard something absurd coming our from their mouth like: "there are different ways to love".

What does it mean? When a person in a healthy relationship tells the partner "I love you" are they really meaning what love is expected to be meant?

Why do I see more lies in a relationship than the real passion that is expected?

Maybe that love I learned growing up never really exists. It is a momentary emotion that changes with time.

the only thing that gives me hope is, *I* know what love is, *I* know what the words mean when I say them,

and if *I* know, then there have to be others that know too.

I think what happens to people is that they fall in love with being in love, yet love is much more complex and is multi-dimensional. We believe never to fear love but....you have to be very careful with it.

Love exists, it's just not perfect and it can hurt no matter how hard you try. I've been hurt too and am afraid. I'll love again someday when I'm ready. So will you.

I've never found it easy to say I love you. Never abused the meaning behind the word. When I say it, I mean it. Too bad many others use it as a throwaway term.

when we met 20 years ago i told him: "you are my gift from God", he said:"no, i am your punishment". little did i know those would be his only true words.....all the rest was just lies....

is it love or lust?

always my question... think about it when you first met someone you like and you fall fast you think its love. is it or is it lust?

i think love takes time to grow and has many diemsions to it for it to truly mean that

i know i can love but who out there can these days? faithfully at that

My ex used to tell me to only say I loved him if i meant it....

Now I get that "different ways to love" line from him. He tells me he loves me but that "I don't mean it like that". Supposedly this "love" now is a mutual respect and caring. Then demands that I tell him that I care about him... which I still do to some degree.... then he says "well if you care about me then you love me too".

Talk about a no-win conversation.

My X told me he would die for me, I was a part of him, he could not cut the cord to me, if he hurt me he was hurting himself....all the while when we were breaking up after I caught him living a secret life....when I asked him how could he do what he did and love me - he said he never knew what love was growing up...'yea ok'...still can't wrap my brain around that one...

They say it because they understand how much we value and honor those three words. And then WE come to find out they were unable to LOVE. They were just words USED to make us react in a positive way. They used it as power over us, because of course when we said I LOVE YOU, we meant it with all of our hearts and then some more. So they got away with things, because they could use it against us, and then they walk out of our lives, crushing us, and yet we still love them.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty sick myself.
