I'm at a point where I don't care who did what to whom, I'm not interested in apportioning the blame, and I'm not even asking for her to be held accountable. I hold myself accountable for my part; now I want to move on.
I am happy to be single, to focus on my career, and to try to maintain a relationship with my daughter from a previous marriage. My ex-girlfriend is making this difficult: Whereas I am allowed to see my daughter once a week, my ex-girlfriend is welcome at my ex-wife's house anytime.
So long as my ex-gf is kind to my daughter, I can suck it up and deal with it. My daughter assures me that she is treated well by my ex-gf and my ex-wife. So, I'll bite my tongue. My daughter's needs will always have primacy.
Still, I look forward to the day when I don't keep seeing my ex-gf in court, sitting by my ex-wife, as I plead for more time with my daughter. It's getting old. My ex-wife and I have spent the past four years fighting over our daughter's custody/visitation situation. Now, my ex-gifrlriend has decided to involve herself in that situation. It makes it harder for me to move on, let's put it that way.
Then there's the real estate matter, of course. Moving on would be easier if my ex-gf weren't suing me for half my estate. We weren't married, but I did make the colossal mistake of putting my apartments and my car in joint names to demonstrate my commitment to the relationship. When we broke up, I asked for them back. Her response was to tell me that she would make sure I never saw my daughter again.
I look forward with great enthusiasm to mediation. I hope we can avoid dragging this out, but something tells me she wants to drag it out. The custody/visitation matter will drag on for another five years I'm resigned to that but I want this real estate matter settled so that I can close the book on a rather unpleasant, dysfunctional part of our lives together.
My ex-gf, I imagine, would love to move on. She deserves the chance to move on. I want her to move on. I want us both to move on.
Sometimes I think I should let her have it all and walk away. It's only money. Money can be replaced. On the other hand, those apartments were to be my daughter's inheritance. I don't like the idea that the woman who is stealing my daughter's inheritance also hangs out with her and smiles in her face.
All in all, this has been a most unpleasant time for all concerned. Fortunately, my daughter appears to have emerged unscathed. I try to speak well of all parties. When I have nothing nice to say, I say nothing. My daughter, as do all children, will grow up and judge us adults in due course. That is her privilege. Mine is to try to protect her from this almighty mess that we adults have created.
...but deep down, more than anything, I want to move on.

It's amazing how people come out of the woodwork like roaches for money. Please stick with it because those apartments are your daughter's inheritance. It was a legal blooper that you did, and I hope your attorney can show she did little to contribute or provide and get it back into your hands. She'll fight like crazy, but you'll eventually get it back and then have it set up somehow so you daughter will eventually get it.
We all make mistakes in life and I realize sometimes you have the urge to just give in and let them have it all. But your daughter deserves that and stick with it and eventually you will be glad you did.
